Make boutique bows on alligator clips for your child's hair.
Boutique hair bows are fluffy multi-looped bows that are not difficult to make. You can use all types of ribbon, from grosgrain to satin, in all colors and patterns. You can attach boutique bows to elastic, headbands and alligator clips. Make ribbons to match your child's outfits and for special occasions. Bows make a perfect present for any little girl. Once you learn to make a boutique bow, you can use them for other craft projects, such as wreaths and hats.
Instructions
1. Make a circle on a table with 8 inches of ribbon. Wrap another 8 inches of ribbon around the circle so there are two layers of ribbon.
2. Place a straight pin through the middle of all four ribbon layers.
3. Pull the loops free from each other, making four loops, while holding your thumb over the pin head.
4. Sew down the middle of the bow using a running stitch, a stitch where you put the needle in and out of the fabric in a continuous line. Remove the straight pin.
5. Wrap the thread around the middle of the bow, pulling tight while you wrap. Sew a knot with the thread.
6. Hot glue the bow to the middle of the top of the alligator clip.
7. Make a knot with a piece of 4-inch ribbon. Hot glue this knot in the middle of the bow. Wrap the ends of the ribbon around the alligator clip and hot glue them down. Trim the ends.
