A banana clip wig is a clip-on hair piece that gives the illusion of fuller, thicker or longer hair. It is easy to put in and take out, making it more convenient than regular extensions. The wig uses a banana clip to attach the hair piece to your own hair. It can be used with hair of almost any length or thickness, and the hair extensions can be curly or straight. This versatile piece can be made at home and used over and over again.
Instructions
1. Sew four pieces of wefted hair together to form a 4-inch-wide-by-7-inch-long rectangle. Sew two 4-inch pieces to two 7-inch-long pieces with a sewing needle and thread. The hair should all be on the same side. This is the outer frame. The 4-inch sides are the top and bottom of the frame.
2. Insert straight pins along the outer edges of the wefted hair to mark the sewing points. Start in a corner and place a straight pin every inch, for a total of 22 pins.
3. Sew 6-inch wefting strips to the outer frame to make the inner frame. You will need 14 strips. Pin the inner frame every three-quarters of an inch and sew five strips across the top of the outer frame. Sew a wefted piece of hair 1 inch below the top corner pieces on the outer edge. Sew four pieces ½ inch from the top to create a row. Continue to add rows with the remaining wefting strips.
4. Attach the frame to a large banana clip with glue. Place a bead of glue along the right edge of the clip and clamp the comb to the hair piece. Tie the hair piece to the side of the clip at each end and in the center. Repeat to attach the left side. Allow the glue to dry.
5. Attach the blender. Sew a 3 ½-inch strip of wefting near the top of the inner edge of the outer frame. Pull the hair over the top of the frame to cover the top edge.
