Save a lot of money while planning your wedding by creating your own corsages and boutonnieres. It is relatively easy and can be done with the help of some friends. Use the tips below to create a four faced bow, which makes a corsage or boutonniere look fuller and richer.
Instructions
1. Make a loop with the ribbon. The best size of ribbon to use is probably a half inch, but you can use bigger or smaller. Be careful not to overpower the flowers with too much ribbon however. Make loops 3 inches in size.
2. Hold the loop in place using your thumb and forefinger. As you continue making loops, one end of the ribbon will finish on top, while the other will be on the bottom.
3. Continue looping the ribbon at about the same lengths until you have four loops of ribbon on both side of the flowers. This is what makes it a four-faced bow.
4. Cut one more short length of ribbon to serve as the faux-tails or ends of the bow, when the actual ends are secured tightly. This is because the true ends never fall in an attractive way. Cut the ends at a 45-degree angle to prevent fraying.
5. Secure the bow in place using the floral wire, twisting it tightly around the center of the bow where your fingers were holding.
6. Fluff the bow to make sure the loops are full and not flat. Attach the bow to the pre-arranged flowers using the floral wire.
