Make a simple hair bow for your child.
Hair bows are a popular accessory to adorn a little girl's ponytail or pigtails. But kids' clothing and accessories can get quite expensive, so save on cost by making your own child's hair bows. Creating your own hair bows is simple; you can make them in many different colors and materials to match many of your girl's outfits. Use buttons, charms and other accessories to personalize the hair bows for your little girl.
Instructions
1. Select the ribbon to use for your hair bow. The width and length of the ribbon depends on how large and thick a bow you want to create. Grosgrain ribbon works well for hair bows.
2. Choose a simple metal or plastic barrette to attach to the hair bow. The barrette should have a flat top at least 1/2-inch wide, so you have enough surface area to glue the bow.
3. Cut a piece of ribbon and tie a simple bow, as if you are tying your shoelaces. Clip the ends of the ribbon so they are both even.
4. Heat up the glue gun and place a bead of glue onto the center of the barrette. Press the center of the bow onto the barrette and hold it there for several seconds until it is stable.
5. Choose an accessory for the center of the bow. Select a button or a charm shaped like the child's first initial, for example. Use the hot glue gun to affix the accessory to the center of the bow.
