Most anime characters have unnaturally colored hair.
Yugi is the main character of the Japanese animated cartoon "Yu-Gi-Oh." Many anime (pronounced "ann-ee-may") fans enjoy dressing up in costumes for conventions, or just for fun. Yugi's hair is the hardest part of his outfit to replicate, due to its complexity: But it is an achievable goal, as long as you take your time.
Instructions
1. Select your wig. In the manga, Yami Yugi has blond bangs with black and red hair, but the cartoon has the hair as pink. Decide which version of the character you want to emulate, before purchasing the wig.
2. Put the wig on the display head to style. Gather the hair into seven equal parts -- starting on one side of the head, under the ear -- and moving to the other side, with only one gather on the very top. Secure each part with a hair tie.
3. Untie the top gather and shape it to look like a star's point. Spray with hairspray to make the hair stand straight up in the triangular shape. If hairspray does not make the point stiff enough, use hair gel to get the hair to defy gravity.
4. Repeat this step with the rest of the hair, making six more points. Use the scissors to shape the two points closest to the center point slightly smaller. The two points further down on the wig should be smaller still -- and the last points, closest to the neck, should be the smallest. Apply more hairspray and gel to keep their final form.
5. Allow the points to dry stiff. Use the black Sharpie to color the wig from the roots on up. Leave at least an inch of red on the edges of the hair -- to give an outline of red along the sides and point of the triangle -- against the black. Color the back of the wig black in the same fashion, leaving an inch or more of red at the tips of all of the hair.
6. Allow the Sharpie to dry completely. Apply a layer of hairspray, to protect the Sharpie color, and allow it to dry.
7. Clip the blond hair extensions to the front of the wig, so it looks like long bangs. Separate the hair, so half lies in front like bangs, and the other half in back. It will be styled into the bulk of the wig.
8. Separate the back extensions into five equal parts. Center the sections with the five largest points, and spray the extensions stiff. Use scissors to trim the extensions into triangles. The tips of the extensions should not go past the black part of the larger points. Use hair clips to hold the extension points to the larger points, until they dry completely.
9. Separate the bangs into four separate tufts. Bend each tuft and crimp it with a heated flat iron. Spray hairspray onto the crimp and clip in place until it dries. Repeat this step, two or three times with each tuft, and allow to dry.
10. Put any finishing touches on the wig and smooth out anything that is out of place. Apply more hairspray, if needed.
