Turn some extra rolls of tape into decorative bows for craft projects.
Make a bow from duct tape or masking tape for a simple afternoon craft. You can use the bows as decorations for a children's craft or art project, or get creative and attach the bows to hair clips and headbands to show off your unique fashion sense. Leave the bows the same color as the tape, or create a variety of colorful bows for art projects or hair accessories using paints, markers and even glitter and glue.
Instructions
1. Cut an 8-inch-long piece of the tape and lay it sticky side up on your work surface.
2. Cut another piece of tape to the same length. Lay it on your work surface with one long side overlapping about 1/4 inch of the first piece of tape to join the two pieces together. Repeat until the strips of tape measure 4 inches wide.
3. Fold the joined pieces of tape in half lengthwise, with the sticky side facing inward, to make the tape 2 inches wide. Fold the tape in half the other way, and press along the fold to crease the center.
4. Open the center fold, and pinch together along the fold to make an accordion-like center. Pinch each end of the tape in the same manner to make accordion-like ends.
5. Fold the accordion-like ends to the accordion-like center. Press firmly and then wrap a small piece of tape around the center to hide the joint.
6. Use a paintbrush or spray paint to color the bow. Let the bow dry, and then paint it with a little bit of clear glue. Sprinkle some glitter over the glue, and tap off the excess.
