Balloons can give a sweet and playful touch to wedding decor.
When utilizing balloons for a wedding, you want to give them an elegant edge so they blend in with the formal surroundings. Tulle is a common choice for wedding decorations in that it is a luxurious fabric with a glittering sheen to it. It is also available in a variety of colors that can easily accommodate a variety of wedding color palettes. Combining the fun and carefree balloons with the elegant tulle can create a light-hearted, yet stunning and appropriate, wedding decoration.
Instructions
1. Choose your colors for the balloons and the tulle. Using white balloons will give the decorations a simple yet elegant look while utilizing colors will give the decor a splash of color as well as tie in your wedding color palette. Choose one bright color for the balloons and use a simple white or silver for the tulle, or vice versa, to keep the color combination from becoming overwhelming.
2. Inflate the balloons with helium and tie them. The amount will vary depending on what the balloons will be used for. For a balloon centerpiece you will need about five to 10 per table. If you plan on lining the room with balloons you could need more than a hundred balloons.
3. Cut strips of tulle about 3 to 4 inches wide to tie to the balloons. The length will vary depending on the use of the balloons. If you are placing the balloons on tables as centerpieces the tulle should be about three feet long. To create a dramatic border to the room the tulle can be two or three times that so the tulle cascades in long, shimmering lines from the balloons.
4. Cut strips of tulle approximately 18 inches long. Tie the center of each strip to the base of the balloon and create a bow with the loose edges. Pin the bow and the balloon to the backs on the chair covers of each guest's chair.
5. Tie bunches of balloons to a balloon weight and place them at the center of each guest table. Choose a weight that coordinates with the color scheme.
6. Tie the ends of the tulle around the perimeter of the room so the tulle balloons create a floating perimeter. Tie the balloons to rafters or lighting fixtures, or tack the ends of the tulle to the wall or ceiling in lieu of items to secure the balloons to.
