Ready-made hair bows can be expensive, so try creating your own bows at home with a few simple items available from craft stores. You can experiment with ribbons of different colors, textures and sizes to create unique and trendy hair bows that match an outfit or reflect your mood. Homemade, trendy hair bows are a simple craft project which can be completed by novice crafters and children alike.
Instructions
1. Place the 8-inch piece of ribbon face down on your work space.
2. Locate the middle of the piece of ribbon and fold the left edge of the ribbon into the center of the ribbon. Fold over the right edge of the ribbon so that it slightly overlaps the middle of the ribbon.
3. Pinch the middle of the ribbon to create a bow-shape fold. Insert the alligator hair clip over the ribbon to hold the fold in place.
4. Cut a 1-inch strip of thin ribbon. Turn the large bow over by holding the alligator clip.
5. Remove the alligator clip, but pinch the fold to keep it in place. Wrap the small piece of ribbon around the middle of the bow fold you created in Step 3. Apply a small drop of glue to the end of the small ribbon and glue it around the back of the bow.
6. Cut off any excess small ribbon with the scissors.
7. Apply a small drop of glue onto the top side of the alligator clip. Affix the top of the alligator clip to the underneath of the bow. Allow the glue to fully dry before wearing the hair bow.
