Easy-to-Make Items
Popular items made from old military uniforms include purses, drawstring backpacks, diaper bags, bandannas, key fobs, pillows, wallets, quilts, teddy bears, appliques for customized tee shirts--and even holiday ornaments. Try alternating squares of camouflage fabric and a solid color to create a quilt. Use a shirt cuff to make a fob that can be attached to a keyring. To create a holiday ornament, sew two pieces of military fabric together, leaving a small opening to stuff cotton inside. Tack a loop of ribbon to the top and add some glitter.
Detailing
A military-fabric purse can have pockets trimmed with contrasting cloth or faux leather.
