If you have short pieces of hair that are constantly sticking out from the rest of your hair, you are not alone. What most people refer to as fly-aways are actually pieces of extremely damaged hair that have broken off due to excessive heat, split ends and chemicals. You can grow out broken pieces of hair with the proper moisturizing products and care. If you take the time to repair damaged hair, your hair will grow faster and stronger, and it will be well worth the investment.
Instructions
1. Go to the salon and ask the stylist to cut the damaged hair. If you have a lot of damaged hair, and you are not comfortable with a short haircut, ask her to cut off the most extensive damage.
2. Shampoo and condition your hair every time you shower with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Buy these products at a drug store or grocery store, or you can buy salon products for a deeper treatment.
3. Use a deep conditioning mask on your hair once per week. This is an extremely thick conditioning treatment that you need to leave on your hair for five to 10 minutes before rinsing. On the days that you use the mask, you do not need to use your everyday conditioner.
4. After you wash your hair, use a wide-toothed comb or pick to detangle your hair. Combs do not pull you hair and are therefore less damaging than brushes. When you comb your hair, start at the ends of the hair and work your way up. If you work from the top down, you are simply pulling the tangles to the bottom of your hair, making them much more severe.
5. Spray your hair with a heat protecting spray before you blow dry, straighten or curl your hair. This will protect your hair from becoming too dry from the heat.
