Make a monogrammed pacifier clip to keep the pacifier near the baby.
Pacifier clips are a necessity for most babies because they always seem to lose their pacifiers. Many babies will throw the pacifiers out of their mouths and onto the floor or to some place that makes it difficult to find again. A pacifier clip prevents the need to wash the pacifier every time a baby takes the pacifier out of her mouth. You can easily make a customized pacifier clip within just a few minutes. Monogramming the clips adds a personal touch that parents will appreciate.
Instructions
1. Cut your fabric to measure 9 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. Fold the right sides together in half lengthwise and sew down the long open edge.
2. Turn the fabric right side out. Fold one of the short ends of the fabric inside the fabric tube and sew the edge closed.
3. Cut 4 inches of thin ribbon, and sew it to the inside of the open end of the fabric. Fold the edges of the fabric down inside the fabric tube so that the raw edges do not show after sewing.
4. Remove the elastic from the ironing board clips with a screwdriver. Replace it with the end of the fabric that does not have the ribbon.
5. Cut a piece of felt to about 4 inches in size. Choose whatever shape you want. Embroider the child's initials onto the piece of felt. You can use the embroidery setting on the sewing machine, or hand-stitch the initial in place on the felt. Glue this to the metal clip.
6. Glue other decorative elements, such as fabric flowers, onto the metal clip. Take care not to use anything that a baby might be able to choke on. Always make the items large enough so that they cannot fit through the hole in a toilet paper roll. This is the size of an object that is too large to fit down a baby's windpipe.
7. Allow the items to dry thoroughly, at least overnight, and give away or use as desired.
