Korker hair bows make a cute addition to a little girl's hair. Many girls will wear them in a set of two. Because many ribbons are used in the korker bow, it is possible to customize the korker bow to complement all colors of the little girl's outfit.
Prepare the Ribbon
On 1/4-inch wooden dowel rods, wrap polyester fabric ribbon around the rod without overlapping the ribbon. Secure each end of the ribbon with a clothespin. Grosgrain ribbon is a popular choice for korker bows and comes in many widths, colors and designs.
Place the rack in the oven in the center position and cover it with aluminum foil. Heat the oven to 275 degrees F. Place all of the dowels on the rack to back for 15 to 25 minutes. Test one portion of the ribbon before unraveling all of the ribbons to ensure that the ribbon has curled.
Make the Korker Bow
Cut the curled ribbon to 2 1/2-inch lengths until you have 25 to 50 sections of ribbon. The number of ribbons you have is a personal choice depending on how full you would like your korker bow to be. Apply a clear nail polish to all ribbon ends to prevent fraying.
Lay a 12-inch piece of string on a flat surface. Place all of the ribbon pieces across the string in a perpendicular fashion, being sure to center the string. Bring the two ends of the string together, gathering all of the ribbons, and double knot the string. Adjust the ribbons until they are even on both sides of the knot. You may need to trim the ribbon to achieve the desired look. If you do trim, be sure to seal the ends of the ribbons again.
Attach to a Clip
Cut a piece of flat matching ribbon to attach to the top of the clip. Hot glue this ribbon to cover the top of the metal hair clip. Hot glue the korker bow to the top of the ribbon-covered metal hair clip. Allow the glue to set completely before using the korker bow.
