Keep your dog's ribbon in place with unnoticeable grooming bands.
Whatever the occasion, your dog can make a fashion statement by wearing ribbons in its hair. One of the requirements for a successful ribbon or bow, however, is that your pooch has long enough fur for the ribbon to attach to and stay in place. If you know you want your dog to wear ribbons in its hair one day, plan ahead and let the fur behind its ears grow out.
Instructions
1. Comb your dog's fur behind its ears or on top of its head -- known as a topknot -- depending on where you want to place the ribbon. If you haven't bathed your dog in a while, this is the time to do it. The build-up of oils from the dog's skin and fur can cause the hair to get greasy, which will make it more difficult for the ribbons to stay in place.
2. Make a tiny ponytail out of the fur where you want to place the ribbon. Use the grooming bands to keep the furry ponytail together by wrapping them around the fur. Grooming ribbons are clear, small rubber bands designed to hold small amounts of hair for dog grooming. They are also designed to be ouch-less as they do not pull the dog's fur when they are removed.
3. Wrap the loose ribbon around the grooming bands. Tie the ribbon into a bow. Or, if your ribbon is already pre-shaped as a bow, tie it around the grooming bands. Some ribbons and bows are attached to beret clips, which you simply clip over the grooming band.
