Complete an infant girl's outfit with a matching headband.
Telling the difference between an infant boy and girl can be difficult. Parents with a girl may utilize a headband to dress up their child to match an outfit she wears. Headbands come in many varieties with different colors and accessories. You can easily make an infant headband with a bow using materials you have at home. Dress your infant girl up with a headband complete with a bow to finish off her outfit.
Instructions
1. Measure your infant's head with measuring tape.
2. Add a half inch to the measured length. Cut one leg of pantyhose measuring the length needed.
3. Stick an inch of one end of the pantyhose into the other end. Holding the ends in place, sew the two ends together with needle and thread.
4. Hold the thread tight as you push the stitched pantyhose area against the thread's knot. Loop the thread around the gathered stitching three times and tie a knot before cutting off the excess thread.
5. Cut two strands of 1-inch fabric ribbon to create a bow. You will need a 2- and 6-inch strand. Loop the 6-inch strand and use a hot-glue gun to secure the ends together. When dry, press down to flatten the loop hole and use your thumb and pointer finger to pinch its center as you wrap the 2-inch strand around the pinched area. Secure the wrap by applying the hot-glue gun to strand's end.
6. Stitch the back of the bow to the area of the pantyhose with the stitch marks, using a needle and thread. Tie a knot and cut off excess thread. Your infant headband with bow is ready for wear.
