To truly embrace the school girl persona, style your hair to fit with the costume.
Ponytail
A basic ponytail works for a school girl costume.
In a ponytail, hair is pulled straight back and held in place with a hair tie. You can either place the ponytail low, at the nape of the neck, or pull your hair up into a high ponytail. For an especially innocent school girl look, tie a ribbon into a bow around the hair tie.
Pigtails

Pigtails are much like ponytails, except hair is parted down the middle with each side tied up using hair ties. Pigtails can be tied either low or up high, again like ponytails. You can use ribbons and bows to accent the hairstyle and make the look seem more school-girlish.
Braids
Braids can be worn in either pigtail or ponytail style.
Braids are accomplished by separating a section of hair into three sections. Then, the outside pieces alternately overlap the middle piece to create a basic braid. To create a French braid, begin a basic braid. However, instead of working with only three pieces of hair, continue to bring in separate sections of hair until all hair is incorporated in the braid.
Accoutrements
A headband is a simple way to create a school girl look.
School girl hair isn't only about how it is worn, but also the accessories used. One way to accomplish a school girl look is to keep hair straight and sleek, and to wear a headband. You might also go big and wild, with tons of curls. If you go the latter route, accessorize with spray glitter meant specifically for hair.
