Making a bow for a wedding gift doesn't require much time or money.
After you've found the perfect gift for the newly wed couple, the time comes to wrap it. Choosing the perfect wrapping paper and decorations for a wedding gift doesn't have to be time consuming and wasting cash on large, fancy bows isn't necessary. Creating beautiful, formal bows for wedding gifts is simple, inexpensive. Because different colors and materials are available, you may even be able to make your gift match the decor of the wedding.
Instructions
Looping Pinwheel Bow
1. Cut a yard of ribbon. Make a loop in the bow by folding it on one end, leaving an area hanging down for a tail.
2. Continue creating loops. As you get higher, make the loops larger. The bow will appear to be four or five loops on top of each other (depending on the size of your loops). Be sure that you're leaving enough ribbon for the second tail.
3. Keep the center of the bow together by tying with an extra piece of ribbon. With your fingers, spread the loops out so that it forms the shape of a pinwheel.
4. Creating a looping pinwheel bow requires few materials.
Attach the bow to a wedding gift by using double-sided tape or by applying hot glue.
Illusion Bow
5. Use 2.3 yards of ribbon cut into nine different pieces: one 3-inch, two 4-inch, two 5-inch, two 7-inch and two 8-inch. There will be one piece leftover. Cut this piece in half.
6. Fold each of the nine sections in half and use a hot glue gun to glue the ends together. Squeeze the ends together after glueing them to create a "scrunched" look. It will give it a "tied" effect as opposed to just being glued.
7. Grab the biggest and second to biggest ribbon. Place the smaller one on top of the largest, pulling out the edge so that it is barley visible beneath the large ribbon. Use hot glue to secure the ends of the bows together. Continue with the rest of the groups, starting with the biggest and ending with the smallest.
8. Glue the tails to the back of the ribbon with hot glue and cut the ends into angles or "V" shapes for a finished look. This type of ribbon looks as if it is more than one bow, when in fact, it is just a bunch of loops.
9. An illusion bow, or faux bow appears to be more than one bow on top of one another.
Attach to a wedding gift with ribbon, glue or tape.
Three Layered Hanging Bow
10. Use 1 yard of ribbon. At one end, measure out a tail, approximately 3 inches long. Hold your finger where the tail will be.
11. Make a loop to the left, NOT including the tail. Keep your finger in place to keep the tail separate from the rest of the ribbon (in the center). The loop should be about 3 inches long. Make another loop to the right and again to the left.
12. Pull the extra left loop up around the center of the bow and pull loop through the center loop and down. There should now be two tails on your bow.
13. Attach the ribbons to a gift or card with tape or hot glue.
