Add bows to flip-flops for a fun look.
Adding bows to a pair of flip-flops can give them a fun look, making your toddler proud to show off her "fancy feet." Fortunately, you don't have to spend a lot of money to get this look. With some ribbon and bow-tying ideas, you can easily adorn your toddler's flip-flops in just a few hours. In fact, they are so inexpensive and easy to make, you'll probably want to create a pair to go with all of her outfits.
Instructions
1. Purchase a pair of flip-flops that fit your child. You may want to purchase the next size up to account for the child's rapid growth.
2. Decide what type of bow you want to make. There are a number of different styles of bows, such as layered bows, puffy bows and traditional bows. You want something that will look pretty but won't interfere with walking.
3. Cut a length of ribbon. The length you cut depends on how large the bow will be. Fancy bows require more ribbon than traditional bows.
4. Secure the ribbon to the flip-flop. Fold the ribbon in half, creating a loop. From the top of the shoe, bring each side of the ribbon under the strap on either side of the toe separator. Bring the ends up over the strap and thread them through the loop. Pull tightly to secure.
5. Tie the bow. Take the necessary steps to create the bow of your choice. Intricate bows will require the use of bow-tying wire to keep them securely in place.
6. Use a hot glue gun to secure the bow. Place glue in the middle of the bow to be sure that it does not come untied. You can also use glue to help attach the bow to the shoe.
