Multi-loop bows are simple and easy to make.
There are endless varieties of pre-made bows and wrapping paper to choose from at the store, but amassing a collection of wrapping materials can become expensive. Make your own bows and wrapping paper to save money and to personalize your gifts. This is also a fun project for children to learn and partake in as the process is simple, safe and allows for creative freedom. Any arts and crafts store will have all the supplies you need, including a large variety of ribbons to choose from to make your bows and materials to decorate your wrapping paper.
Instructions
Make a Homemade Bow
1. Cut a piece of floral wire approximately 2 inches long, set aside. Wrap the ribbon around the outstretched fingers of one of your hands five or six times.
2. Slide the wrapped ribbon off your fingers, keeping its looped shaped. Fold the loops in half.
3. Wrap the rubber band around the center of the looped ribbon, where you folded it in half. This keeps the loops in place temporarily.
4. Wrap your piece of floral wire in the middle, either on top of or beneath the rubber band. Remove the rubber band. Make sure the floral wire is securely, tightly wrapped around the ribbon.
5. Separate the loops one by one, working from the inside out. Move the loops to the left and right as you separate them. Twist the loops toward you as you separate. Fluff and arrange the loops to your specifications. If you want to make sure the floral wire isn't visible, tie a thin piece of ribbon over it. Attach your bow to the package with double-sided tape after it has been wrapped.
Make Wrapping Paper
6. Choose which materials you will use to decorate your paper. This step is totally up to you. Use glitter pens, glue and glitter, markers or stickers. You can also make a collage by pasting pictures from magazines and newspapers. Set your materials aside for use after you choose them.
7. Cut your paper to fit the specific package you are going to use it for. Use the same method you would for store-bought wrapping paper.
8. Decorate your paper using the materials you've chosen. If you have a specific design in mind, it will help to draw it in pencil first on your paper, so you can erase mistakes, and then go over it with your decorative objects.
