Baby sock corsages are a popular addition to any baby shower. Sock corsages are easily made and can be pink for expected girls, blue for expected boys or even yellow or green if the mother-to-be hasn't found out what gender her baby will be. The sock corsage can be decorated however you would like, with fresh or silk flowers, flowers made from nylon baby socks and even baby rattles. Bows are a must for any baby sock corsage. The right bow can make a baby sock corsage unique and beautiful.
Instructions
1. Lay both 1/2 yards of ribbon flat on your work surface.
2. Measure and cut two inches off the end of your ribbon and discard. Your ribbon ends can be cut at an angle, or dovetailed by folding the end in half lengthwise and cutting at an angle up from the middle to the edges of the ribbon, creating a V when the ribbon is unfolded.
3. Measure and cut four inches off of your 7/8 inch wide satin ribbon, cutting at an angle or dovetailing the ends as described in Step 2.
4. Lightly run the ends of your ribbon through the flame on your lighter, heat-sealing the ends to prevent fraying.
5. Fold the larger piece of ribbon into a bow by folding the ends in towards and past each other. Pull the ends until they are even with the loops you created, and their junction is in the center of the bow. Your incomplete bow will measure approximately four to six inches long, depending on how long you want the tails of the bow.
6. Gather the center of the bow and tie it with a piece of floral wire. Clip the wire and fold so no edges are poking out.
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 with the smaller piece of ribbon.
8. Layer the smaller bow on top of the larger bow, gluing the bows together at the center.
9. Wrap the center of the bow with the 5-inch section of ribbon to hide the wires, and tie a knot at the back of the bow. The bow can now be tied onto the sock corsage.
