Shih tzus are bright, lovable dogs that make good apartment pets.
Adopting a dog or puppy is a big responsibility, one some people don't think enough about beforehand. People overwhelmed by having to care for a dog or puppy, or whose living situation makes it impossible to keep a dog, have little choice but to turn their dogs over to a humane society or rescue organization. If you want to adopt a Shih Tzu, try a rescue organization and adopt a dog in need of a new home.
Instructions
1. Prepare your home before you look for a Shih Tzu. Obtain a crate, blankets, toys, food and water dishes, high-quality dog food and chew toys. You should also get a brush or comb.
2. Research Shi Tzu-specific organizations and rescues online. A search for "Shih Tzu rescue" brings up a long list of possibilities for adoption. Look first for any organizations and dogs in your area.
3. Fill out contact forms for organizations that have female Shih Tzus available. This will open the lines of communication, and give you an opportunity to ask questions and get information about the dog and adoption process.
