Draw A Lady Dolphin With Human Characteristics

Drawing a female dolphin requires that you strategically impose it with specific human characteristics.

Some of the most famous animal drawings had a hybrid of both human and animal characteristics. For example, while Mickey and Minnie Mouse were both rodents, they both possessed remarkably human qualities, most notably that they had hands and feet and wore clothes. However, animators created distinct features that allowed the spectator to truly see that Minnie was female; for example, she had notably long eyelashes. If you need to create a female dolphin, using similar strategies will allow you to fully convey the femininity of the dolphin while imposing it with human qualities.

Instructions

Give Your Dolphin Character

1. Draw a long semicircle in the middle of your page. Connect the bottom left end of your semicircle with the bottom right end, creating a straight line.

2. Draw two curved vertical lines in the middle of the semi-circle, starting together an inch beneath the bottom of the semi-circle and extending and curving outward, up to the middle of the body of the dolphin. It should look like a bent ice cream cone. This will be one of its flippers

3. Draw the curved top fin at the exact middle of the top of the semicircle. It should look like a bent triangle. This will be the dorsal fin of the dolphin.

4. Draw a slight curve dipping down from the bottom of the dolphin's body to the left of the first flipper. This slight curvature will represent the flipper on the other side of the dolphin's body, not fully visible to the spectator.

5. Draw forked tail of the dolphin by extending the right end of the semicircle half an inch and drawing a slight upside down heart shape. This will allow the dolphin to look slightly more feminine.

6. Elongate and narrow the left side of the semi circle, narrowing it down slightly at the last half inch. This will be the snout of the dolphin.

7. Draw a big round eye. Create long tick marks around the eye for eyelashes around the top and bottom of the eye.

8. Sketch a slightly curved eyebrow above the top of the eye. Make the eyebrow thin and nicely arched for a feminine look.

9. Draw a curved line from the end of the snout towards the middle. This will represent the dolphin's smile. Draw a pair of pouty and curved lips on top of the smile line.
