Simple Directions On Making Hair Bows

Complete your outfit with a homemade hair bow

Design the hair bow you have been looking for right from your own kitchen table. Hair bows can be pricey in the stores, yet are inexpensive to craft. These hair accessories can be used for all ages to put an exciting twist in your hair for a dance recital, cheerleading event, or to dress up an outfit. Making your own hair bow will save you time searching for that perfect bow in the stores and will give you the opportunity to match it to any attire with the right color or pattern.

Instructions

1. Find an area on a flat table that has space and room to work. Use a table that is not very expensive or nice because you will be using a hot glue gun.

2. Lay the newspaper out across the table to avoid any spills from the hot glue gun. Turn on the hot glue gun to its highest power, so when you are ready to use the glue it will be sufficiently heated.

3. Pick the ribbon of your choice. Lay it out on the table and pick it up in middle of the ribbon. Make a loop meeting at the half point of the ribbon with one side. With the other side of the ribbon wrap it around the base of the loop and pull it through on the other side making a bow. You can adjust the bow to the size you'd like, just be careful that you keep it tight enough that the bow does not come undone. Make sure the knot in the bow is very tight when it is completed.

4. Get your hair tie ready. Make sure the hair tie is heavy duty and will not break with the bow attached. Set the bow facing down on the table and put a big dot of hot glue over the knot. Immediately, stick the hair tie firmly to the area where the glue is without touching the glue to your skin. Hold the hair tie there for about a minute to make sure the glue is dry.

5. Put an extra layer of glue on top and around the hair tie, where it has already been glued, after the first layer has dried. Keep holding the hair tie there until the second layer is dry. This layer will keep the bow securely on the hair tie.
