Fix Hair Color Messups

Fix Hair Color Mess-Ups

Hair coloring and highlighting is a chemical process that alters the pigment in your hair shaft. As with any chemical process, the tiniest mistake in timing or color mixture can sometimes lead to disastrous results. Whether your color was done by a professional or at home, there are several ways you can correct hair color mistakes.

Instructions

1. Tell your stylist that you are not happy with the color results, if your hair was colored by a professional. Most stylists will book another appointment to correct the color at no cost.

2. Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo. Clarifying shampoo is formulated to clean deeply and will fade color more quickly than other shampoos.

3. Try another color. Choose a lighter shade if the color is too dark or a darker shade if the color is too light or bright. Use a semi-permanent dye first; it will fade over time and blend in with the original color for a more natural look.

4. Remove the color. If clarifying shampoos or new color treatments don't work, you may need to have the color stripped. This process should be done by a professional, as it is a riskier process than just coloring at home and requires harsher chemicals.
