Place A Verse On The Wedding Candle

Whether you're lighting a unity candle at your wedding to signify the joining of two families and two lives into one or simply want meaningful centerpiece embellishments for your reception tables, customize candles with verses to commemorate the occasion. Use translucent vellum paper to not only display heartfelt messages, but also add a decorative touch to inexpensive pillar candles. Use the proper adhesive to affix the sheer vellum to the candle for the most effective and elegant result.

Instructions

1. Use a measuring tape to measure the area of the white or ivory pillar candle where you want the verse to appear. Make the text easier to read by breaking it into shorter lines rather than wrapping long sentences all the way around the candle.

2. Print the inspirational poem, quote or verse on a piece of white, ivory or pastel-colored vellum. Use a simple block font for a classic look or a script font as an elegant touch. Allow the ink to dry for 30 minutes before continuing the project if you used an ink jet printer to prevent smearing.

3. Cut the vellum out with scissors or a paper trimmer, leaving a 1-inch blank "border" around the text.

4. Cover your work surface with scrap paper or a plastic sheet. Place the vellum face down on the scrap paper and apply an even layer of spray adhesive onto the back.

5. Pick the vellum up by the edges so you won't leave fingerprints in the layer of adhesive. Lay the candle on the table and hold the vellum over it to center the piece top to bottom. Press the right edge of the vellum down on the candle and use your palm to press the vellum onto the candle.

6. Embellish the candle by tying a ribbon bow beneath the verse or adding self-adhesive rhinestones above and below the vellum.
