Hair bow holders can be a useful way to store a little girl's hair bows and ribbons. Depending on the style of hair bow holder, it can also serve as wall décor in the little girl's room. Hair bow holders that hang on the wall, place the hair bows in easy reach and visibility as the little girl is accessorizing each morning when getting dressed. Making a hair bow holder is a fairly simple process.
Select a Letter
Choose a letter that represents the first letter of the child's name. Craft stores have wooden 3- to 4-inch high letters for each letter of the alphabet. The wooden letters will hold up better and attach to the wall easier than cardboard letters. Attach a picture hanger to the back of the letter to facilitate hanging the letter on the wall.
Paint the letter to match the décor of the girl's room. Acrylic craft paints work well. The wooden letter will not require sealing. Several coats may be needed to achieve the desired effect.
Attach the Ribbon
Cut two 24-inch lengths of 1.5-inch wide grosgrain ribbon that will match the décor of the room and complement the color of the painted letter. With a glue gun, attach one end of the ribbon to the back of the bottom of the letter. Complete this with each ribbon length to create two tails that extend from the bottom of the letter. The ends of the exposed ribbon lengths can be sealed with a clear nail polish to prevent fraying.
Display the Hair Bow Holder
Allow the glue to set before hanging the letter on the wall. Hammer a nail into the wall and hang the letter with the picture hanger hook that was installed earlier in the process. If desired, an additional ribbon loop can be hot glued to the top of the letter to facilitate hanging of the hair bow holder.
