Cheer uniforms are colorful and spunky, but there are ways to add even more flair and charm to customize them. Adding flashy embellishments like jewels and sequins will add a touch of sparkle to the uniform and make it stand out from other cheer uniforms. Make sure all the embellishments you choose match each other as well as the team colors for the most polished and professional finished look.
Instructions
1. Plug in a hot glue gun. While you're waiting for it to heat up, organize a bag of small rhinestones or jewels into separate piles of size and color. There are many places you can embellish the uniform top with rhinestones; you can place them sporadically around the uniform or create a sparkly outline around the team name or neckline.
2. Apply a dot of hot glue to the uniform top before using a pair of tweezers to carefully place a jewel or rhinestone over it. Wait a few seconds for the glue to take hold and remove the tweezers, leaving the jewel secured in place. Repeat until you have finished embellishing the desired area, using your choice of jewel colors and sizes to correlate with each other. Set aside to dry.
3. Pair the uniform skirt and a strand of sequin trim. Use metal pins to carefully pin the sequin trim around the bottom of the skirt. Move the skirt into place in a sewing machine loaded with a matching thread.
4. Carefully use the sewing machine to secure the sequin trim to the bottom of the uniform skirt. Go very slowly, as you need to make sure the machine's needle penetrates in between the sequins as to not crush them or cause a jam. Remove the metal pins as you go, and continue until the sequin trim is completely attached to the uniform skirt. Secure the knot with the sewing machine and release the skirt by cutting the thread with a pair of scissors.
