Instructions For Baby Tulle Headbands

Tulle headbands for babies can be made in a variety of ways depending on the look you are aiming. They are a dainty way to show off your princess' face when she doesn't have any hair and are charming in professional pictures. Many times, parents use tulle headbands in conjunction with matching tutus to create a ballerina-look for professional pictures. The headbands are also fantastic for pulling back unruly bangs and creating a dramatic effect in costumes and other outfits.

Instructions

Creating your headband

1. Cut 4 to 5 inches of light pink velvet ribbon from your spool. Using a lighter, lightly burn the ends of the ribbon to prevent fraying. Trail a small line of hot glue 1 1/2 inch along the wrong (not velvet) side of one end of the ribbon. Flatten the glue using the nozzle of the glue gun and immediately place that end under one prong of the alligator clip, pressing gently to adhere. Continue by repeating this step, gluing the ribbon all the way down the length of the clip and around to the second prong. You will not completely cover the clip, but instead will create a no-slip clip that won't pull your baby's hair.

2. Cut your tulle into 6-inch squares, placing two squares of the same color on a flat surface, followed by two squares of another color and so on, until you have a stack of 26 squares of multicolored tulle. Draw the threaded needle through the middle of the tulle stack and pick it up. Sew three to four more stitches through the middle of the tulle, and pull the center of the tulle into a point. Sew three or four stitches along the point of the tulle, creating a pouf of tulle. Tie off your thread and fluff the tulle to create a more ball-like pouf. Trim the fabric with the scissors to even the edges if needed.

3. Glue the pouf to the covered alligator clip, hiding the sewn edge close to the clip where it won't be seen. Clip your tulle pouf to your headband.
