Instructions for Lollipop Hair Clips
Hair clips are an easy and inexpensive way to add a decorative touch to an outfit. You can make that decorative touch even more personal by crafting your own hair clips in several different fun shapes. One fun shape that you can put on a hair clip is a lollipop.
Materials
To make your own lollipop hair clip you will need felt in the color that you want your lollipop to be as well as in brown. You will also need embroidery thread and ribbon in a color that coordinates with your lollipop felt color. You will need a blank alligator clip, which can be found in the jewelry section of a craft store. Lastly, you will need hot glue, a needle and scissors to complete this craft.
Assembly
Cut a small circle out of your lollipop color of felt. You want your circle to be about an inch in diameter. You can trace the outline of a quarter to get a perfectly round circle if you need a guide. Stitch a spiral inside your circle of felt using your embroidery thread. Use a simple back and forth stitch to make this spiral. The spiral doesn't need to be tight, it should only wrap around three to four times.
Cut a strip of your brown felt, with the same size circle as your lollipop at one end, that is about 2 inches long and 1/4 of an inch wide. This strip of felt will be the stick of your lollipop. Hot glue your lollipop on to the circle of at the end of your strip by first covering the back of your lollipop in a thin layer of hot glue. The hot glue will also serve to reinforce the lollipop.
Cover the top of your alligator clip with ribbon using hot glue to adhere it. Use a drop of hot glue to attach your lollipop to the clip at the circle of the lollipop.
