Lolita is the name of a fashion sub-culture introduced in Japan in 1980 and still worn in 2011. This fashion trend is a style based on angelic baby dolls from the Victorian era. Frilly, full-skirted dresses, some with pinafores, are worn by teenagers and young adults. Mary Jane-style shoes with knee-high stockings and lace are part of this look. Exaggerated hair accessories are used to complete the outfit. These accessories can be very small straw hats decorated with lace and flowers, bonnets or very large bows. This fashion movement has a very innocent look.
Instructions
1. Cut your fabric 9 inches wide by 22 inches long, Place your fabric, wrong side up, on your work surface. Fold over 1/2 inch of fabric on all four sides onto the wrong side of the fabric. Using fabric glue, adhere the four edges to the wrong side of the fabric.
2. Fold the two long edges onto the wrong side of the fabric so that the edges meet in the middle of your fabric. Use fabric glue to secure the edges of the fabric.
3. Glue your fabric with fabric glue to adhere a strip of lace to each of the long edges on the wrong side of your fabric. Your fabric is now edged with a narrow border of lace on the two long sides.
4. Fold the two short edges of your fabric to meet in the middle of the wrong side of your fabric. Glue these two edges with your fabric glue so that they are secure. Your piece of fabric should look like a bow.
5. Cut another piece of fabric 4 inches by 4 inches. Fold all four edges 1/2 inch onto the wrong side of the fabric and glue in place with your fabric glue. Place this piece of fabric, right side up, in the center of your bow. Wrap it around the bow and glue it on the back of the bow. Your lace trimmed bow is finished.
6. Use a hot glue gun and glue your bow onto the top of the hair clip.
