Create A Bow From Baby Socks

Make a Bow From Baby Socks

Are you preparing for a baby shower? Or do you just want to accessorize a gift for a special baby on the way? Why not create an adorable bow out of baby socks? This is a simple way to add a decorative touch to any party table, or gift. The technique does not require a lot of skill, so you can quickly make as many as you want.

Instructions

1. Cut the sock, starting at the top edge or cuff all the way to the toe, and continue along the bottom seam until the sock opens up flat. Notice a little bump where the heel was located. This will not matter once you tie the fabric into a bow.

2. Lay your sock out flat. Place you scissors directly at the top and in the middle of the sock.

3. Cut all the way to the foot section, leaving about a half inch uncut-to keep the sock connected. Grasp the two sides of the sock, and open it up as wide as you can. Lay it out in a flat line. Smooth out the fabric.

4. Pull the left side of the sock taut, and make a loop over your index finger. Fold it over about halfway, and secure the loop with the thumb and middle finger of your left hand.

5. Pull the right side of the sock with the right hand. Do not let go of the loop you just made.

6. Bring the right side of the sock around the thumb and index finger of the left hand. Pull it as far as it will go. Make a loop with the wide part of the right side with the thumb and index finger of the right hand. Push the loop through the left side where the thumb is. Replace the thumb with the right loop.

7. Pull the loops taut. Adjust the skinny part in the center until your bow is even. Repeat the process as many times as you would like, adding some colored ribbon if you wish. Use a color appropriate for the sex of the baby. Use green and yellow if you do not know if it's a boy or girl.
