You can make beautiful hair bows out of ribbon.
Making hair bows out of ribbon is an inexpensive way to provide bows to match the outfits of your favorite little girl. Ribbons are available in many different fabrics as well as colors and designs. Seasonal ribbons have holiday designs on them. You can purchase ribbon inexpensively at discount, craft or fabric stores and make the ribbons in just a few minutes. These bows make wonderful gifts, or you can sell them at craft fairs and flea markets to supplement your income.
Instructions
1. Cut the ribbon so that it is at least 12 inches in length.
2. Form two loops on either side of the ribbon; you need them approximately the same size. This will look like a floppy upside down "W."
3. Place the right loop so that it crosses the left loop.
4. Bend the right loop down behind the left one, bringing it under and up through the hole in the ribbon. Do not allow the ribbon to twist or bunch up.
5. Pull both sides of the loop so that it forms a tight, smooth knot shape.
6. Slide the back of the bow onto the top portion of an opened flat barrette or metal alligator clip and center it. You will have a vertical piece of ribbon on the back in order to do this. Apply a drop or two of hot glue to adhere it to the surface of the barrette. Allow the glue to dry.
7. Trim the tails of the hair bow so that it is slightly longer than the loop sections.
