Homemade bows are great for styling your toddler's hair.
Hair bows are awesome accessories. They are colorful, pretty, and especially useful for clipping back bangs or pieces of hair that keep falling in your toddler's face. Making your own hair bows brings many benefits, including a huge savings and the option to customize the hair bow to match any occasion, outfit or holiday. All you need are a few simple craft supplies to make the bows, and it doesn't take much time to put them together.
Instructions
1. Use scissors to cut a piece of ribbon in the color of your choice to measure about 5 or 6 inches long, depending on how large you'd like the bow to be. Although you can use various widths of ribbon, according to your preference, make sure that it's no wider than an inch.
2. Carefully tie the strip of ribbon into a bow. Make sure that both the loops of the bow and the strands that hang free are of equal size. Use your fingers to shape the bow so that it looks as symmetrical as possible. When the bow has been adjusted accordingly, bind the bow permanently by using a needle and thread to sew up and down through the middle of the bow. When the middle of the bow is sewn, knot the thread, and cut away the needle.
3. Hot glue a small embellishment, such as a button or small jewel, over the middle of the bow to cover the thread. Allow to dry completely, using tweezers to hold together if necessary. The glue should be set enough for you to remove pressure after about 10 to 15 seconds.
4. Apply a small dot of hot glue over the top of an alligator hair clip. Press the bow over the glue, and allow to dry.
