Help Make Your Own Oneness Candle lights

Unity Candle

Unity candles for a wedding ceremony can be expensive if purchased ready-made. With a few supplies and an hour or two of time, you can create unity candles for that important wedding that will be all the more special because they were made especially with the particular bride and groom in mind.

Instructions

1. Make a color photocopy of the wedding invitation on regular white copy paper. Cut out the written part from the front of the invitation (including any decorative edging that surrounds the writing).

2. Place the copy of the invitation onto the 8-inch pillar candle. Position it so that it is centered top to bottom and level on the candle.

3. Cut the straight pins to make them approximately 1/2-inch long, using wire cutters.

4. Position the satin trim along the top edge of the invitation. Press a pin through the trim and the invitation approximately 1/2-inch apart along all four edges of the invitation. Cut the excess trim when you have completely surrounded the invitation.

5. Place a silk rose in the center of a silk bow and glue it in place. Glue the silk bow centered under the invitation. Glue more silk roses surrounding the invitation if you like.

6. Cut two 5-inch lengths of craft wire. Place the craft wire around the center of each of the remaining silk bows. Use this craft wire to attach a silk bow to each crystal taper candle holder. The bows should be near the top of the candle holders. Twist the wires around the back of the candle holders to affix the bows firmly in place. Cut off excess craft wire.

7. Insert a white taper candle in each candle holder. Place the pillar unity candle onto the crystal pillar candle holder. The unity candle is placed in the center of the two tapers.
