Make Korker Laces and ribbons Stay Together

Attach gathered korker ribbons to a French barrette or an alligator clip to place in a girl's hair.

Korker bows, when made correctly, resemble a perky, curly pompom. However, if not put together properly, the korker ribbons can slide out of the bow's center and create an uneven, sloppy appearance. While korker ribbons can be tied together using elastic string, this method leaves the potential for sliding ribbons. Instead of tying them together, sew through the center of each of the korker ribbons to ensure the ribbons remain firmly in place.

Instructions

1. Cut a 24-inch piece of thread and push one end of the cut thread through the eye of the sewing needle. Knot the two loose ends of the thread together.

2. Hold the eye of the sewing needle between the thumb and pointer finger of your non-dominant hand.

3. Pick up one of the korker ribbons with your dominant hand and place the center of the ribbon over the tip of the needle. Push the korker ribbon down until it rests against the thumb and pointer finger of your non-dominant hand.

4. Pick up another piece of korker ribbon with your dominant hand and place the center of the ribbon over the tip of the needle. Push the korker ribbon down until it rests against the previously placed korker ribbon. Continue placing each korker ribbon onto the needle in the same manner.

5. Squeeze the stack of ribbons as near to the center as possible with the thumb and pointer finger of your dominant hand. Be careful not to press your finger onto the tip of the needle.

6. Reposition the thumb and pointer finger of your non-dominant hand from the eye of the needle to the tip of the needle. Continue to hold the center of the stack of ribbons with your dominant hand while pulling the needle and thread all the way through the stack of ribbons with your non-dominant hand.

7. Reinsert the needle back through the center of the stack of ribbons, but not through the original sewing hole. Pull the needle and thread all the way through the stack. Release the stack of ribbons from your dominant hand.

8. Create a 2-mm stitch on the korker ribbon that the needle passed through most recently. Pass the tip of the needle through the loop of thread before pulling it tightly.

9. Pass the needle through the 2-mm stitch, and again pass the tip of the needle through the loop of thread before pulling it tightly. This will knot the thread. Cut and discard the excess thread.
