Decorate A Mailbox For Any Birthday Celebration

Festive mailbox

When throwing a birthday party, you will probably be called upon to give directions to your house. Decorating your mailbox with a birthday theme is an easy way to create a landmark that is simple to spot and makes it clear that the seekers have found the location of the party. You can get extremely elaborate with these decorations if you wish, but this simple version will get party-goers' attention as they pass and let them know that the party is about to begin.

Instructions

1. Wrap your mailbox in birthday wrapping paper. If your mailbox is on a post, then you can just wrap the box itself. Use two separate pieces of paper to wrap the front and the back so that you do not have to cut out a hole for the post. Tape the paper to the box with the clear packing tape, which can be removed easily later. Whereas you would not necessarily tape the paper to a box you were wrapping, you should tape it to the mailbox in case of wind. Do not wrap the front, or the box will not open. If your mailbox is inside a large brick or stucco holder, then you will wrap the entire holder just as you would a large package, leaving space in the front for the front of the mailbox to show.

2. Use one blade of the scissors to make a slit for the flag. Use the point to make a hole, then cut a slit the length of the flag along the side of the mailbox. You can pull the flag through the slit and even put it up if necessary.

3. Wrap the thick ribbon around the box. You should wrap it only once, and it should be wrapped around the width of the box rather than the length. Use the packing tape to secure the ribbon.

4. Tape the large bow and the balloons to the top of the box. The balloon strings will hang down like streamers, and the large bow should sit on top of the mailbox. At this point, you will have a clear, bright landmark for party-goers to spot.

5. Add any additional accents you like. Some people like to add additional ribbon, sequins, or even flowers or bows to their mailboxes. Make sure that you do not obscure the numbers on the front of the box or make it impossible to open.
