Make Hair Bows for Yorkies
Yorkshire Terriers, Yorkies for short, are a small breed of dog that require regular grooming because of their long hair. Without regular grooming, the dog's long hair becomes tangled and matted as well as hangs in the face. Keep your Yorkie's hair out of her face with a top knot, or small ponytail on top of the dog's head. Adorn that ponytail with a homemade Yorkie hair bow you can make to match any dog outfit, or just to suit your dog's personality.
Instructions
1. Measure and cut a 3-inch and a 3 1/2-inch length of 5/8-inch wide ribbon. Heat the cut ends of the ribbon with a lighter for a few seconds to seal them.
2. Bring the ends of each piece of ribbon together so they overlap by a 1/4 inch. Use hot glue to secure the overlapped ends together.
3. Thread three 4mm beads onto a 3-inch-long piece of floral wire cut with scissors.
4. Stack the two loops of ribbon, with the smaller one on top, so that the overlapped ends are centered in the back of each loop. Pinch the stack together in the center.
5. Wrap the beaded floral wire around the pinched center so the beads are in the front of the bow. Twist the ends of the floral wire together in the back of the bow. Trim the wire tails.
6. Measure and cut a 1 1/4-inch piece of 1/4-inch wide ribbon. Secure the ribbon to the top of the French barrette clip with a thin line of hot glue. Trim the ends of the ribbon flush with the ends of the barrette.
7. Use a small dot of hot glue in the center of the back of the bow to secure the bow to the ribbon-covered barrette. Let the glue cool for 5 minutes before placing the bow in the dog's hair.
