Adding a flower to hair will spice up any outfit.
Boutique hair bows and hair flowers can be expensive. But if you want to add style, color and a little something extra to your hair, make bows or flowers that look like boutique quality. Because the materials are inexpensive, make hair accessories to match every color in your closet.
Instructions
Hair Bows
1. Apply a small amount of fabric glue to the top of the snap clip. Fabric glue works better than other craft glues because it will not stain the ribbon.
2. Place the beginning of the ribbon onto the glue. Press the ribbon to adhere. Cut off the excess ribbon.
3. Place the remaining ribbon down on a hard surface and lay a pencil on top of the ribbon exactly in the middle of the ribbon.
4. Tie the ribbon into a knot around the pencil.
5. Tie the ribbon into a bow by pulling the left side of the ribbon up so that it lies against the pencil point up. Pull the right side of the ribbon down. Loop the right side of the ribbon (the side pointing down) so the loop points up. Pull the left side of the ribbon (pointing up) around the right side of the loop, around the back, and through the ribbon hole in the back. Pull both ribbon loops to tighten.
6. Slide the bow off of the pencil. Because the bow was tied on the pencil, there will be a small loop in the back of the bow.
7. Place the heavy thread through the bow loop. Open the snap clip, and place the bow in the middle of the snap clip on top of the glued-on ribbon.
8. Loop the heavy thread around the top part of the clip, through the bow loop and around the clip again. Do this until the bow is secured. Tie the heavy thread into a double knot underneath the top portion of the clip so it can't be seen. Cut any excess thread.
Hair Flower
9. Purchase a fake flower from any craft or hobby store. Hibiscus, daisy or flamenco flowers are used most often.
10. Cut off the leaves and stem of the flower. Remove the base of the flower to give you a flat surface to work with.
11. Apply a thin strip of fabric glue to the top part of the snap clip.
12. Place the flower in the middle of the hair clip. Press on the flower so it adheres.
13. Let the glue dry overnight.
