Make infant headbands.
An infant headband with a bow is a quick and simple way to dress up a baby girl for a number of occasions. A headband is a lovely accent whether your baby was born with a head full of hair or just a little peach fuzz. By designing your own infant hair bands with different ribbons and lace, you can create a variety of looks without breaking your budget.
Instructions
1. Choose a color scheme for your infant headband. For example, if you use green, try mixing and matching shades of green in your elastic lace and rolls of ribbon to give your headband a signature look.
2. Measure the circumference of your baby's head where the band will go. Cut a piece of 1-inch elastic lace that is slightly shorter in length to ensure the headband will fit snugly. If you cut the elastic to the same size as the head measurement, the band will fit loosely and eventually fall off.
3. Cut a piece of ¾-inch ribbon 2 to 4 inches smaller than the headband. Cut this ribbon so that when it is stitched on top of the elastic lace, the ends of the ribbon will sit right behind your baby's earlobes. Stitch the elastic together at the ends. Stitch the ribbon on top of the stitched elastic ends to cover the elastic's stitch marks.
4. Make a small bow for the headband from the second roll of ribbon. It doesn't matter how you tie the ribbon; a bow like the one in a tied shoelace works just fine. Cut notches that look like triangles into the bow ends. The notches add a little detail to the bow, but you can leave them out if you choose.
5. Sew the bow onto the headband in the middle or slightly to the side. Sew it on top of the ¾-inch ribbon and go all the way through to the lace. Sew a small button into the center of the ribbon flower to give it a little more dimension and character.
