So many young children love Sesame Street and all of the characters, and for many young girls Zoey is their favorite. Zoey is a monster just like Elmo and is one of his best friends. Zoey is a golden yellow color, has bows on either side of her head and feathery looking hair. She is also adorned with a bracelet and necklace in bright fun colors. Making a Zoey birthday cake is simple with the right tools and will be the perfect touch to any Zoey or Sesame Street-themed birthday party. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Instructions
1. Grease your Elmo cake pan with butter or Crisco and then dust with flour so that the pan is lightly coated with the flour. There is no Zoey cake pan available, but the characters have similar faces. By using the Elmo pan you will have the proper face shape, nose and eyes in the cake.
2. Mix or make your cake batter, pour it into the greased Elmo pan and bake the cake at the specified temperature according to the directions on the box or with the recipe. Allow the cake to fully cool before decorating the cake.
3. Set out your picture of Zoey to refer to while decorating your cake. This way you can get the proper color and look of Zoey.
4. Add the golden yellow or orange and yellow mixed food coloring to white icing and mix it until it has reached the desired Zoey color. Also mix small batches of hot pink, light pink, brown and blue icing.
5. Set the cake onto the serving platter and line the edges of the cake with wax paper so that none of the icing gets onto the platter.
6. Fill a piping bag with the golden yellow icing and apply the star tip to the bag. Dot the icing onto the cake to create small stars and fill in all of Zoey's face except for her mouth, nose and eyes.
7. Fill another piping bag with white icing and apply a star tip. Fill in the eye area on Zoey by creating small stars. To finish the eyes, use the black gel icing to make black inner circles of the eyes.
8. Apply the light pink icing on the nose using the star tip, and also use the light pink and star tip to make bow shapes for Zoey's pigtails.
9. Use the brown colored icing and star tip to just line the top of Zoey's eyes, and then use the star tip and blue icing to make a line of stars just on top of the brown. This gives Zoey blue eyeshadow.
10. Apply the hot pink icing with a straight tip to create Zoey's big smile.
11. Stick the colored gumballs or candies around Zoey's neck to create a colorful necklace.
12. Remove the wax paper from under the cake. Use the golden yellow color icing and piping bag to draw Zoey's hair on the serving platter. Zoey has one pigtail on each side.
