Create A Cheerleader Outfit

Cheerleading is a great way to show team spirit. Before you stand on the sidelines, however, you will want to fashion a cheerleading uniform for you and the rest of your squad. You don't have to spend a fortune. Using some simple materials that can be found at your local fabric and sporting goods stores you can easily make your very own cheerleading outfit.

Instructions

1. Cut a strip of fabric long enough to go around the bottom edge of your tennis skirt and sew on, making sure to fold under the unfinished edges of the fabric strip.

2. Cut out the initials of the school that you are cheering for or the first letter of the name of the team from a piece of your fabric. Sew this letter or these letters on to the front of your tank top using an embroidering stitch to hide the unfinished edges of the fabric.

3. Decorate the rest of the tank top using ribbon, fabric paint and rhinestones as desired.

4. Cut strips of ribbon in the teams colors to be used as hair ribbons.

5. Take about 10 garbage bags and in two sets of five, trim the awkward edges off of the garbage bags so that you are left with large rectangular pieces.

6. Cut the rectangles into strips that are about 10 inches by 1 inch, these will make your pom poms.

7. Gathering the strips from five trash bags at a time, wrap duct tape around the middle of the strips, wrapping a section wide enough for your hand, to form the handle of your pom poms.

8. Fluff and crinkle your pom poms once both pom poms have been wrapped in duct tape.
