Free Quick & Easy Wedding Crafts

Weddings are expensive, so cut costs when you can.

Little details and final touches complete a wedding. Unfortunately, those details add up financially. Channel your inner crafty diva, gather your family and friends and create crafts for the wedding and reception as a cost-saving strategy. Ask your neighbor to use some flowers from his garden for the bouquet. Use your father's home office to create save-the-date cards. Become resourceful and you will find that people are willing to help and the time spent creating these wedding crafts are well worth the final product.

Wedding Favors

Wedding favors often include some type of sweet treat that the guests can take with them and enjoy after the wedding festivities. A quick favor idea is a candy or cookie bar. Gather your bridesmaids and have a baking day. Have the candy and cookie recipes ready and ask each bridesmaid to bring different ingredients. At the reception, set out the couple's favorite treats with empty bags and let the guests help themselves. Decorate the bags with thank-you tags or the couple's monogram for a personal touch. At the end of the sweets bar, set out ties or ribbons to seal the bags.

Bridal Bouquet

Put together a simple and elegant bridal bouquet with rose stems. Ideally, you would gather 40 to 60 rose stems for a full bouquet. Prepare the stems by removing the thorns or any leaves that may be attached. The stems should then be cut to all the same length. Arrange the roses by starting in the center and placing the roses clockwise to create a bouquet shape. The flowers should be gathered tightly with no gaps or wiggle room. Wrap floral tape tightly around the stems. Wrap a ribbon around the floral tape for a polished look. Use half the amount of rose stems for the bridesmaid's bouquet.

Save The Dates

Save-the-dates have become popular as a pre-invitation mailer. It gives guests eight to 12 months to request time off from work or arrange travel for the wedding. Print out a favorite picture of the couple and hand write the information on the back. This adds a personal touch and is free, aside from the paper and ink used to print them. To save money on postage, hand-deliver the save-the-dates to the guests that are in the area. Include the important details such as date, location and wedding website for more details about the wedding event.

Table Numbers

Create table numbers with photo frames from around the house. Reusing old photo frames is a free but chic way to display the table numbers for an eclectic look. Gather the number of frames you need. Print out the table numbers to fit in the frames. Use different fonts to correspond with the different frames. Decorate plain frames with paint or scrapbooking stickers---the possibilities are endless. Display the frames in the center of the table for guests to see.
