Turn fabric remnants into accessories and clothing embellishments for little girls.
A crafter's leftover bin is often overflowing and can be embellishment gold for projects that need a little pizazz. Serious crafters always buy more material than they need for a project in case something goes wrong. Fabric trim is no exception, and many crafters find their trim boxes packed with anywhere from 6-inch to 2-foot remnants kept long after their favorite projects were completed. Use remnants of fabric trim to add fun details to kids' wardrobes.
Instructions
Hair Accessories
1. Pick up to 3 appropriate trims for a theme or matching colors.
2. Stack the remnants according to size, layering largest to smallest on top.
3. Tie the remnants into a basic bow like you would tie shoelaces.
4. Add hot glue to the backside of the knot of the bow and adhere the bow to a hair tie, clip or headband. Let the glue dry completely before using the accessory.
Pocket Details
5. Preshrink trims that you want to use on denim or other clothing. Cut the trim to the length of the pocket, or double the length of the pocket for a gathered or ruffled look.
6. Pull the pocket away from the back side of the jeans. Place hot glue on the inside of the back pocket, as close as possible to the top.
7. Turn the trim upside down and apply the trim detail to hot glue, with the detailed side face-up inside the pocket. When applied, the trim will appear to be sticking up out of the back pocket.
