Ringlet curls and ribbons on a little girl are like icing on a gorgeous cake. Curled ribbons combine the two for a sweet accent to a little girl's hair. Cork screw ribbons found in pricey boutiques can be quite expensive. Fortunately you can make your own quite easily at home, which not only saves you money, but allows you the flexibility to create matching hair pieces for each of your little girl's outfits.
Instructions
Make Cork Screw Ribbons for Girls
1. Secure one end of the ribbon to one end of the dowel with a clothespin. Wind the length of the ribbon around the dowel. Don't overlap the ribbon; use the whole length of the dowel and wrap it all the way to the other end.
2. Construct 4 to 5 of the ribbon-wrapped dowels to make your piece. Preheat your oven to 250°F. Place the dowels on a baking sheet. Insert the sheet into the oven and bake the ribbons for 20 minutes. Remove the sheet from the over, and allow the dowels to cool off before you touch them.
3. When the dowels are cool, remove the clothespins and carefully slide the dowel out from the inside of the coiled ribbon. Cut the ribbon to four-inch pieces. Snip the ends to make them angled, and hold the ends under a flame for 1 to 2 seconds to keep them from fraying.
4. Line your curled ribbons up against each other. Use the thread to secure them all together in the middle. Glue the entire piece at the middle to the metal or plastic hair clip.
