Make your own korker ribbon hair bows.
Korker ribbons are ribbons that are formed into a permanent spiral. When gathered together into a hair bow, they puff out like a pom-pon. These ribbons not only look cute in any girl's hair, but they are also perfect for team sports like gymnastics and cheer. Instead of purchasing these ribbons, you can make them at home. Keep in mind that they do take a while to make because they need to be baked in the oven-that's how they keep their shape.
Instructions
1. Turn your oven on "Bake" at 275°F.
2. Place a ribbon at one end of a dowel. Place a clothespin onto the ribbon and dowel to secure it. Wrap the ribbon all the way down to the end of the dowel in a tight spiral.
3. Cut off any ribbon that falls past the dowel. Place another clothespin onto the end of the ribbon and dowel to secure the end of the ribbon.
4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 29 times-you'll need 30 korker ribbons for one hair bow.
5. Place all of the dowels on a cookie sheet. Bake the ribbons for 25 minutes. When the time's up, put on an oven mitt, and remove the cookie sheet from the oven. Allow 30 minutes for the ribbons to cool.
6. Remove the clothespins from all the dowels, and pull off the ribbons.
7. Lay an elastic cord on a clean, flat surface. Lay 30 korker ribbons on top of the cord-you may need to stack some of the ribbons so that they fit across the cord.
8. Tie the cord around the korker bows into a tight double-knot. Cut off any excess cord ends from the bow. Slide a barrette, bobby pin or hair tie through the elastic cord to attach the hair bow to the child's hair.
