Many women struggle each day with managing their hair. They subject it to chemical-laden hairsprays and gels, and blast it with heat. All of these things are prone to stripping hair of its outer protection and leaving it brittle and dull. Even worse, many of the conditioners and hair masks that are supposed to restore softness and shine leave residue and buildup behind.
The best way to restore your hair is to toss all of the chemical products and turn to natural ones. There are plenty of products in your kitchen and local health food store that will help relieve itchy scalps and dandruff while making your hair clean and baby-soft again.
Instructions
1. Mix 1/2 cup of water and 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar for short to medium hair and a full cup of water with 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar for long hair. Use water that is warm to the touch. Apple cider vinegar will break up buildup and make your hair shiny.
2. Add about a dozen drops of the oil or oils of your choice. Citrus oils, such as lemon and orange, ylang-ylang oil, or aloe vera oil especially, will coat the hair shafts and make them soft. They will also help mask the vinegar smell. If using multiple oils, add four to six drops of each.
3. Stir the ingredients well and set the bowl of cleanser and an empty bowl in your bathroom. Wash and condition your hair as usual, rinsing it well with water before rinsing it with the herbal cleanser.
4. Scoop your hair over one shoulder and bend slightly to the side. Pour the cleanser over your hair, catching it with the empty bowl as it drips from the ends. Rinse your hair this way about five times and rub the cleanser through your hair for a few minutes before rinsing.
