Create A Initialed or monogrammed Ribbon Headband

Use ribbon to personalize a plain headband for a great gift.

A monogrammed headband is a wonderful personalized accessory for any girl or woman. You can use any ribbon, from satin to colorful printed or striped grosgrain ribbon to achieve a variety of looks from evening to everyday wear. For the best results, use a plastic or metal headband form as a base, and embellish using the ribbon. The ribbon should be at least 1/2 inch wider than the width of the headband. A home embroidery machine makes this project professional.

Instructions

1. Program your embroidery machine with your monogram, selecting both a font and color.

2. Place your ribbon underneath the embroidery machine foot, 3 inches above the edge of the ribbon, the width centered underneath the foot.

3. Push the foot or button (depending on your machine) and allow the machine to embroider the ribbon.

4. Remove the embroidered ribbon from the machine, cutting the embroidery loose if your machine doesn't clip it.

5. Lay your embroidered ribbon on a table or other flat surface. Cut the ribbon to be 2 inches longer than the headband, placing the embroidery 3 inches above the bottom edge of the ribbon.

6. Make a thin line of hot glue on the left edge of the side of the ribbon opposite the embroidery.

7. Place the center of the width of the ribbon on the center of the headband, centering the lengthwise center of the ribbon on the center of the headband.

8. Wrap the glued edge of the ribbon underneath the headband, and press it down firmly.

9. Glue the underside of the other edge of the length of the ribbon and press it down firmly.

10. Fold the bottom extra inch of the ribbon on either end of the headband back towards the underside of the headband and glue it into place.
