Take Care Of A Baby'S Hair

Take proper care of your baby's hair

Caring for a baby's hair may be a bit more difficult than it seems at first glance. A baby's hair is incredible fine. Add a squirming, uncooperative baby and a seemingly simple task suddenly becomes rather frustrating. Your baby's hair probably tangles quite easily and she may fuss and cry during every shampoo or brushing. Cutting your baby's hair is, of course, the easiest option. However, if you want to keep her long locks, here are some tips for caring for your baby's hair.

Instructions

1. Untangle her hair. Carefully comb through your baby's hair before you shampoo. This will prevent tangles from becoming severe during bath time.

2. Use conditioner. Try a combination shampoo-conditioner. You can also try a spray-on detangler. You do not have to rinse these out and it will make combing your baby's hair much easier.

3. Use the correct comb or brush on wet hair. Use a wide tooth comb or a brush with plastic coated bristles.

4. Untangle your baby's hair from tip to roots. As you untangle, press gently yet firmly on the roots. This will help to minimize the pulling.

5. Avoid using a hair dryer. This will make your baby's fine hair even more flyaway and tangled.

6. Avoid pulling your baby's hair into tight ponytails, braids or pigtails. This will break your baby's fine hair and can actually cause bald spots. Make ponytails loose and use protective clips or coated rubber bands.

7. Get your baby's hair trimmed every two months. This will help to control flyaways and lead to heathier growth.

8. Time it right. Groom your baby when she is in a good mood. Avoid times when she is sleepy, fussy or hungry. Let her play with a toy while you work on her hair.
