Wear team hair bows to display your school spirit.
Athletic teams take pride in representing their schools during sports events and conventions. The most predominant method of representation is wearing team uniforms that display the school's colors. Female athletic teams have the option of adding accessories, like hair bows, to their uniforms for extra team spirit and fashion. Use this easy technique to make team hair bows for your next sporting event.
Instructions
Prepare the Ribbon
1. Determine the length of the hair bow; double the length so the ribbons can hang equally on both sides of the hair bow. Cut each ribbon the same length. You will need one piece of ribbon for every tail you would like.
2. Cut the ends of each ribbon into a "v" shape (optional). Try to make the cuts similar lengths and angles for each ribbon.
3. Place the pieces of ribbon on top of each other in ascending order, with the thickest on the bottom and the thinnest on top. Make sure each piece of ribbon is right side up.
4. Fold the ribbon in half. Place one stitch through the underside of the fold. Knot the thread.
5. Unfold the ribbon.
Attach the Ponytail Holder
6. Push a threaded needle through the center of the ribbons on the underside and wrap the thread around the ribbons. Pull the thread tightly to scrunch the pieces together. Continue to wrap the thread around the ribbons until the ribbons are secure.
7. Hold one side of the ponytail holder (hair elastic) over the thread on the back of the ribbon. Wrap the thread around the ponytail holder and the ribbon.
8. Secure the thread by putting a few stitches through the ponytail holder. Knot the thread and cut it.
Add the Finishing Touches
9. Cut a 2-inch piece of the thinnest ribbon.
10. Place a small amount of hot glue on the back of the ponytail holder.
11. Press one end of the 2-inch ribbon piece on the glue. Wrap the the ribbon around the front of the hair bow. Glue the loose end of the ribbon on to the back of the bow.
