Bows dress up your chairs.
Bows are often used in decorating the venues for proms, weddings and anniversary parties. Any element in the party that is lacking style and is a bit on the boring side can be transformed into something elegant by adding a bow. Chairs are an integral aspect of any party and as such need to be dressed up. If you are planning an elegant event and need a quick way to turn a plain looking chair into one that conveys elegance, create a bow chair cover.
Instructions
1. Measure the height and width of each chair with a measuring tape. Double these measurements so that you have enough tulle to create a chair cover that drapes down to the floor. Multiply these numbers by the number of chair covers to get the amount of fabric you need. Purchase tulle that complements your wedding color scheme. Ask about discounts; some stores offer discounts when you buy large amounts.
2. Measure the length and width of the back of the chair. Double these measurements. Once again, multiply these numbers by the number of chairs for the amount of fabric you need for the bows. Purchase a contrasting color of tulle for the chair bows.
3. Cut the tulle for the chair covers. Place the fabric over the chair, centering it so that equal amounts of tulle drape down on both sides of the chair. Press the tulle down into the seat of the chair to shape this area.
4. Wrap the rest of the tulle around the front of the chair and pull towards the back. Secure the material at the back of the chair with safety pins to hold the form of the chair. The safety pins will allow the tulle to stay in place when guests sit down.
5. Cut the contrasting fabric for the bows. Wrap this piece of tulle around the front of the chair and pull the ends of this sash towards the back. Tie the ends into a bow and pull the edges of the loops until the bow appears even. Spread the loops of this bow so the bow looks fluffy.
6. Add a small bouquet of flowers to the center of the bow if you desire. Secure the floral bouquet with wire.
