Adding unique touches to traditional decor is one way to personalize a wedding. For example, a marrying couple can emblazon the wedding date on the aisle runner or print their names on cocktail napkins. Adding a monogram to wreaths that ornament the ceremony or reception venue is another way a small, personal detail can distinguish an otherwise standard decoration. Whether the wreath hangs on a church door, reception wall or the back of the getaway car, it is sure to make a lasting impression.
Instructions
1. Lay newspaper to cover your work area. Lay the letter on top of the newspaper face side up. Paint the letter with craft paint using the paintbrush. Allow the letter to dry thoroughly according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2. Wrap a piece of floral tape around the stem of a foundation piece and the wreath ring, adhering the piece to the ring.
3. Weave the branch of foundation material through the wreath ring. Some material, like ivy, will take to the ring naturally. Other material, like evergreen, may resist holding a curved shape. Wrap a piece of floral tape around stray ends of greenery.
4. Repeat steps two and three until the ring is obscured by foundation material. Hide the ring itself, floral tape and stems with the foliage.
5. Trim embellishment material so stems or wires are no more than 4 inches long. For example, trim rose stems so 4 inches of stem remains attached to the bloom.
6. Secure embellishments in the wreath by sliding stems under the wreath ring. Wrap a small piece of floral tape around embellishments, if necessary.
7. Turn the painted letter over so the backside faces you. Cut a piece of floral wire 24 inches long with wire cutters. Cut a 24-inch piece for each corner of the letter. For example, cut four pieces of wire for a boxy letter like M or R. Cut three pieces of wire for an asymmetrical letter like T or L.
8. Bend each piece of wire in half around your fingertip so the bended area is about half an inch long.
9. Apply a pea-size bead of hot glue to the backside of the letter in each corner. Press the flattened center of a piece of wire into the glue. Affix each piece of wire to the letter. Alternatively, tape the wire to the back of the letter with floral tape.
10. Place the letter at the front of the wreath over the hole in the center. Tuck the wires under the foundation greenery.
11. Wrap the wires around the wreath ring to secure the letter to the wreath.
12. Cut a piece of ribbon 30 inches long. Thread one end of the ribbon around part of the wreath ring at the top of the wreath. Tie the threaded end in a knot with the rest of the ribbon to secure the ribbon to the backside of the wreath. Repeat the process with the other end of the ribbon to make a hanger. Display the wreath by hanging the ribbon from a nail or hook.
